Child Therapy

Children and adolescents often struggle with expressing their inner thoughts and which can result in behaviors that can become disruptive to the family system and the child as well. My unique approach helps children speak so they can be heard and cultivate relationships with their parents that are rewarding. As some children (and adults) have difficulties expressing themselves, play therapy is utilized to assist with the therapeutic process. Play therapy is an amazing alternative for clients who have difficulty with verbal expression and is effective for children and adults. Play therapy helps participants:

  • Become more responsible for behaviors and develop more successful strategies
  • Develop new and creative solutions to problems
  • Develop respect and acceptance of self and others
  • Learn to experience and express emotions
  • Cultivate empathy and respect for thoughts and feelings of others
  • Learn new social skills and relational skills with family and peers
  • Develop self-efficacy and thus a better assuredness about their abilities

Behavior management, attention concerns, communication, bonding with family, sibling rivalry, peer pressure, and bullying are just a few of the issues that can be addressed at Family Counseling, LLC.
